Meet the team for your school’s technology

(Last Updated On: October 19, 2015)

If you thought Harvey Norman was just a shop in your local shopping mall, think again. The company’s created a specialist education team keen to meet your school’s ICT needs.

With shops from Whangarei to Wellington, Blenheim to Invercargill, Harvey Norman has been a familiar name in computing and electronics retailing for many years. It’s now bringing this experience and expertise to schools with the creation of a dedicated Education Team.

“Our aim is to assist schools with their technology planning and purchasing,” said Satpal Rehal, Business Development Manager. “Using not only our experience but also the company’s buying power, we can work together with schools to provide them the best solutions rather than simply selling boxes. We want them to shop with confidence on quality, value and service through Harvey Norman.”

Local help and assistance

The education team has six members – see panel below for details – who are based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and work closely with the company’s retail network, providing schools with local help and assistance.

“The six managers operate strategically to cover the entire country. They bring with them considerable knowledge, expertise and experience of the retail and corporate world within the ICT and telecommunications industry.”

With the backing of the retail network, the education team can offer schools competitive pricing, as well as on-going maintenance and support.

“Our nationwide retail network enables us to sell and service our wide range of products to the schools across the country,” explained Rehal. “We facilitate BYOD programmes via stores so the parents/students can touch, feel and compare the products with assistance from our friendly and knowledgeable team members.

“We also have trained technicians available in our stores seven days a week, which makes it easier to get support during weekends.”

How does the relationship between a team member and a school work?

“The education team member acts as the point of contact, and will guide the school through the planning and purchasing process. They’ll also be able to assist with after-sales support for school-owned devices. They can also assist with other needs, like electrical goods, whiteware, and kitchen appliances.

“We’ve already partnered with a large number of schools and are keen to support others in their ICT journey.”
