While the topic alone should make this an illuminating reading – really, everyone should know about Google Apps, even if you don’t end up using it. Yet, there’s way more to this book than simply learning about GAFE tools.
With the title tagline, ‘The Educator’s Cookbook’, there’s all the clichéd culinary references you’d expect – from ‘Appetiser Recipes’ (warm-ups) and ‘Entrée Recipes’ (fresh take on an old standby lesson), to ‘Side Dishes’ (used at any point in in lesson or unit) and ‘Dessert Recipes’ (creative lessons to enjoy with your classroom). Nevertheless, don’t let this distract from the comprehensive advice the book contains to help guide teachers already using, or preparing to use, Google Apps for Education.
It provides strategies to teach with and tips for using and navigating Google Apps. Every lesson is based on one or more Google App tool. Throughout, there are easy-to-follow instructions, screen shots, and websites. From small projects all the way to developing structures that will allow you to manage student work and projects, this book is filled with ‘recipes’ to help teachers use Google Apps in their classrooms.
