Join the ‘Hour of Code’

Three years ago, the ‘Hour of Code’ was launched. So far, an estimated 10 per cent of all the world’s students have tried it. The 2016 Hour of Code events take place 5 -11 December.

“For this year’s Hour of Code, we want to expand participation by the community, and we want more schools to join the movement to grow their computer science programs beyond just one hour,” said Hadi Partovi, founder of Code.org. “We have a whole new set of activities, designed to engage every teacher, at all grade and experience levels.”

To grow the movement, Partovi advises:

• Tell teachers to host an Hour of Code in their classrooms – or host an event yourself!
• Register to volunteer and inspire students in a local classroom (or remotely via video).
• Promote the campaign at your workplace, using these materials.
• Spread the word on social media.
