Five finalists revealed in HP’s Rural Schools Competition

Five rural primary schools are in the running to win a share of $20,000 worth of HP products and support thanks to the inaugural HP Rural Schools Competition. A panel of judges, including a Rural Women NZ representative, reviewed more than 60 entries to select the following schools as finalists:

• Pokeno School
• Ruahine School
• Kopuarahi School
• Tuturumuri School
• Te Kura o Hata Maria School

The judges are visiting these schools this month to interview the principal, meet with students and understand the technology needs of the schools. The outcomes will determine which of the following technology grants each school receives:

• 1st place: $10,000 worth of HP product and support
• 2nd place: $5,000 worth of HP product and support
• 3rd place: $2,500 worth of HP product and support
• 4th & 5th place: $1,250 worth of HP product and support.

“We’ve gained real insight into the need for technology in New Zealand’s rural schools and we’re really looking forward to getting to know the finalists to determine the HP resources and support that will equip the students with digital skills,” said HP Category Manager Victoria Mahan, who adds she was overwhelmed by the standard of entries.

Each school that entered the HP Rural Schools competition was also gifted an HP Action Camera.
