‘Mission:ISS’ from Oculus

Only about 500 people have been into space – you could be next … albeit virtually. A new virtual reality (VR) simulation lets you explore the International Space Station, go on spacewalks and perform other tasks high above Earth’s surface. Created in collaboration with NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency, Mission:ISS (bit.ly/missioniss) is available in the Oculus Store.

“Based on NASA Space Station models as well as discussions with multiple astronauts and the VR Laboratory at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, this simulation recreates the International Space Station in painstaking detail,” said Oculus.


All 69 New Emojis for 2017

Emojipedia has unveiled a new set of emojis that will be hitting our phones later in the year. Scheduled for release in June 2017, these include smileys, people, food, drink, flags, and, for the first time, fantasy characters such as a mermaid, genie and vampire. There are 69 emojis that vendors are expected to support; there will be 239 in total when gender and skin tone recommendations are taken into account.


Apis Cor: first residential house has been printed!

It took just 24 hours for this house to be 3D printed – a world record. Near Moscow, Russian company Apis Cor. constructed the 38 square metre building, complete with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and hallway. Costing around $14,000, everything was built on-site and in freezing temperatures, down to -35°C.
