Microsoft sees future in 3D

Microsoft is updating its Paint app to include 3D capability. Paint 3D is available in the Windows Store, but the app requires the Windows 10 Creators Update to work, which is only available if you join the Windows Insider Program.


Join the ‘Hour of Code’

Three years ago, the ‘Hour of Code’ was launched. So far, an estimated 10 per cent of all the world’s students have tried it. The 2016 Hour of Code events take place 5-11 December.

“For this year’s Hour of Code, we want to expand participation by the community, and we want more schools to join the movement to grow their computer science programs beyond just one hour,” said Hadi Partovi, founder of Code.org. “We have a whole new set of activities, designed to engage every teacher, at all grade and experience levels.”

Widbook is a digital collaborative community where you can read, write and publish ebooks. It’s easy and free to use but you need to sign up. Students can import their Word documents, use images and videos, and share all in one single file.

Hypothes.is Animated Intro

Annotate, highlight and share web content with Hypothesis. Paste in the search bar the URL of the site you want to work on and off you go. You can highlight text and add notes, including text, hyperlinks and tags. Invite others to view and collaborate on the page.


DropSend: Send Large Files Instantly

DropSend lets you send five files a month up to 4GB for free (up to 45 sends and 8GB if you pay for it). It’s browser-based, so it’s all done on the web, although also available as an app for iOS and Android. Files supported include JPGs, PDFs, and MP3s.
