(Last Updated On: )

railsgirlsFor girls interested in programming, applications are being invited to attend Rails Girls in Motueka, 6-7 November.

This is a free international event which targets girls and aims to inspire them to explore programming and computer science further (a largely male domain).  No previous coding experience required. You can learn more by searching ‘Rails Girls’.

“We are encouraging participants from aged 8-88,” said Kate Ericksen, who’s helping to organise the event. “The invitation is extended to any teachers who are interested in coding to come along to this weekend event – absolutely no coding/programming experience required, although those with knowledge will be much appreciated to assist as a coach, and we are endeavouring to raise money to cover travel costs for coaches”We have coaches coming down from Enspiral in Wellington and the coach/participant ratio will be 1:3. Great PLD and even better, it’s all free!”
